“My kids have not had new shoes in a long time. Now they can run and play and their feet don’t hurt. Thank you to everybody at this place. God will bless you, too.”
The idea behind Simple Needs GA’s Shoe Them Love program is simple: One caring response to one child in the crisis of poverty, with a donation of a new pair of shoes. It’s about one gift, to one child at a time that builds hope, self-esteem and an opportunity to succeed. Now multiply that by hundreds of kids and you can see how you can help us make a difference in the lives of children dealing with poverty. (NOTE: We focus on recipients living in Cobb County.)
Fundraising
We charge no fees to our recipients or distribution partners, receive no government support and are not a United Way agency, so all revenue to support Simple Needs GA’s programs and operations are generated through fundraising. Shoe Them Love relies heavily on the support of a wide variety of donors.
Shoe Them Love is able to operate efficiently as a result of a strategic partnership with the Marietta City school system. We give gift cards to social workers, who then help homeless or impoverished children get new pairs of shoes for school. This allows families to get new shoes or boots in the desired style and correct size. We do also accept donated shoes which are distributed from their clothes closet.
Donations of $25 gift cards from Walmart or PayLess can be sent to Simple Needs GA, Inc., P.O. Box 670265, Marietta, GA 30066.
