“Omg thank you so much you are so amazing and what you do for the community is amazing and I am so blessed to know you thank you so so so much words are not even enough to express my gratitude.”
–email from a furniture client
We are thankful for everyone who supports us! We couldn’t do this without you.
Pictured below are some volunteers from a recent Saturday in August. With the truck are Ben plus four friends he recruited. (L to R: Chris, Ben, Samaria, and Kaeland, along with Marvin (front) and Kenya.) The hardworking volunteers helped with furniture from 8:30 to 4 p.m.!
Samaria, who is Ben’s wife, assisted at the furniture location along with Ellen who coordinates EVERY Sat and often helps during the week, and also at our regular space.
Ben and Samaria volunteered with LinkedUp Church a few weeks ago, then Ben returned the following week to assist with furniture. He then jumped right back in on Saturday!
The other photo below is Samaria with Morgane who lives in the Netherlands. She is our volunteer Stacy’s niece who always wants to help when she is visiting. They organized the baby room and it looks fabulous now!
Not pictured are many other volunteers from that volunteer day, including Eric, Micah, Clay and (another) Eric, who helped with furniture as well, with their pickup trucks and trailers.
Along with Samaria and Morgane, other volunteers including Yvette, Elaine, Stacy, Linda, Abby, Donna, and Merrill pitched in at our regular space. They sorted donations, pulled household items for the furniture clients, cut fleece and made no-sew fleece blankets, which we give out with each birthday.
They worked on birthdays for kiddos, assembled comfort kits, which were delivered to a shelter, and much more!
A volunteer delivered diapers, wipes, and cleaning supplies to a local family. Another volunteer delivered diapers, wipes, and baby items. Someone who reached out to us Saturday morning came by and picked up school uniforms for her daughter.
Seth did a Goodwill run. Amy delivered household items to a client. Clay took some metal for recycling. SA White Oil filled up our truck’s gas tank for free.
Then, on Sunday, Patti and Andy delivered furniture to a client who works on Saturdays, so we couldn’t deliver then.
This week, Beth came by to drop off donations and take cardboard for recycling. Someone (TBD) will deliver a birthday to a child who is considered homeless through the school district. Amy picked up our order at Sam’s Club and took to our space for us. Those mentioned here are just a few of our many wonderful volunteers! (If you’d like to join that coalition, let me know!)
And, of course, a lot of people have made donations of items that we distribute. Others have made financial donations so that we can buy items we need that are not donated.
If you’d like to help us out, please let me know!
Right now, we are seeking more financial donations since our expenses have exceeded income this year (as they did last year).
Please reach out to your company or church to see if they can help. Email brenda@simpleneedsga.org if you have any questions!
